THIS IS US
On a classic corner in Elizabeth Bay JUNO & SONS brings hard-to-find ingredients, great coffee, in house and takeaway meals, house-made cakes and curated homewares.
"Our family has lived, worked, and played in the east for more than 20 years. We love delicious food and sharing the joy of it with friends, family and the community. JUNO & SONS shares that philosophy with Elizabeth Bay".
~ TERRY
To satisfy evolving palates and home cooks who’ve become more aware of food provenance and sustainability, former Rockpool and Qantas Consulting General Manager Terry Higgins has opened JUNO & SONS in Elizabeth Bay. “I’ve been an eastern suburbs local for more than 20 years and I wanted a store that could deliver to the local community the sorts of produce and merchandise they deserve” Terry says.
“Whether you love to cook or simply appreciate good food and great customer service, you’ll feel welcome here. It’s about sharing the joy I’ve been able to experience over my time in the hospitality industry.”
OUR STORY
Bread from Urban Ferment, a micro bakery just up the road in Paddington from Gary Armstrong – one of Rockpool’s former head sommeliers – arrives hot each morning.
There’s olive oil from Australia, Spain and Italy, each with their own distinct flavour profile. A central table displays fresh produce, ranging from “fantastic” garlic, the best ready avocados and the renowned heirloom tomatoes ripe and ready to eat.
"Back in the day in a restaurant review for Rockpool, in The Rocks, written by Leo Schofield, I was described as the Junoesque Terry Higgins. I'm still introduced by some past colleagues as this, so the name stuck" says Terry, "My two sons are very much part of the store, so JUNO & SONS was born".
“Service is key to the JUNO & SONS offering,” she says. “from the stories behind the items on the shelves, it’s all laid out in a warm and welcoming way. The dining table is the hub for delicious food, coffee and conversations".
SO WHO IS JUNO?
You can have this conversation while sipping a delicious coffee, all thanks to the La Marzocco retro coffee machine resting on the counter. You'll find The Little Marionette coffee is served generously, alongside some oversized homemade biscuits and a tempting daily cake selection.
The cake of the day might range from a luscious blueberry, lemon, olive oil creation to a Basque cheesecake adorned with a zesty berry syrup. Some of these delectable treats come from the talented hands of Terry, who has been perfecting classic recipes through years of culinary experimentation, as well as some being crafted by her close pastry chef friends.
